The stock client was built for a different era. Give it room to breathe.
The 3.3.5a client is a 32-bit executable that caps at 2GB of RAM. Once you start loading high-resolution textures, it will hit that ceiling and crash. The Large Address Aware patch removes that limit, allowing the client to use up to 4GB. This takes thirty seconds and must be done before installing anything else in this guide.
WoW_RCE_fix.exe or WoW_tweaked.exeWoW_tweaked.exe, apply this patch to that file. If you skipped the camera fix, apply it to WoW_RCE_fix.exe. Whichever exe you launch the game from — that's the one to patch.
Every texture in the world, sharpened. Every model you remember, untouched.
This pack upscales all cloth and armour textures, world terrain, NPC textures, and trees to 2× resolution using AI. Spell visuals are updated to use effects from later expansions. Fog is pushed back so you can see across zones. Cataclysm water is included. Blood effects are enhanced. The original WotLK character and creature models are kept exactly as they were — no WoD or Legion replacements.
Data folder and delete Patch-A.MPQ from it. The pack ships one for its login screen, but you already have one from the ARAC setup and it must not be overwritten. Delete it from the extracted folder now, before touching your WoW installation.

The beasts of Azeroth, given the detail they always deserved.
A dedicated creature and mount upgrade built with one rule: stay true to the original WotLK art style. No models imported wholesale from later expansions. Every creature and mount has been individually retroported, repaired, and retextured where needed. Works alongside Bhop's pack without conflict — they cover different things.

The original WotLK water is flat, nearly opaque, and dead. This retroports Cataclysm's procedural water rendering to the 3.3.5a client — reflective, animated, and alive. The difference is immediate the moment you stand at any shoreline. This is already included in Bhop's pack above as patch-enUS-W.MPQ inside your Data/enUS/ folder.
Every ability on your bars, sharpened to twice the resolution.
Retail WoW progressively upscaled all spell and item icons to 2× resolution over the years. Those icons drop directly into the 3.3.5a client and work without any MPQ changes — they live in Interface/Icons/ and are invisible to the server. Already included in Bhop's pack via the Interface folder. If you want to remove them and go back to the originals, simply delete the Interface/Icons/ folder contents.
Colour, contrast, and clarity — the world made vivid without changing what it is.
ReShade is a post-processing injector that sits between the game's rendered output and your screen. The HD Clarity preset adds sharpening, colour vibrancy, and lighting refinement without the heavy shadow effects that cost FPS. The result feels like turning on HDR for the first time — nothing in the world changes, it just becomes more present. Toggle on and off with the Home key at any time.
